Hi, I’m Jessica! I’ve always believed that where there’s a will – there is a way, and you don’t have to be limited by finances to experience new things. A Broke Girl’s Diary is a place where I can share how I’ve found a ways to travel on a dime, cook a new recipe or try a new DIY project without fear of failure, or sometimes just my thoughts on books I read! It’s a diary of a life of always saying, “yes.” “Fais ce que tu dois; advienne que pourra.”

I’m an actor, too! You might see me in a commercial, film, or print ad, or even on Twitch playing Dungeons & Dragons. My latest projects include a national GAP commercial, feature This is Us (2018), feature Aquarians (2018) and short Evoke (2018). You can see my latest work and keep up with my projects at jessicalynnparsons.me.

During the day I work as a media producer at a travel agency in Los Angeles, and as a front-end developer for Avalanche Creative.

FAQ

General

A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck, and international travel seems out of the picture. However, I believe if you spend time to learn how to track your expenses and budget your finances, you’ll find there is extra cash waiting for you. If I’m tight on cash, I prioritize travel and don’t buy lunch on the way just because it’s convenient. That money adds up quickly. Additionally, most people don’t realize – if you book at the right time, you can fly to Europe for under $400! If you can work hard and save an extra $100 a month, you can go on an international trip once a year!

I use a Canon Rebel t5, and most of the time I use a 50mm f/1.4 prime lens, occasionally a 24mm f/2.8 lens.

I use Lightroom to edit – no Photoshop! I’ve built a few settings that I apply to my images to keep a consistent visual aesthetic.

I do not! A Broke Girl’s Diary is a hobby for now.
